For the first time ever on The Block, last week the teams headed underground. Each team was given free rein to decide what they would do with their basements; the only rule being that their plans met the Victorian residential code.
With no light or ventilation, the basements couldn’t be used for living, sleeping, or cooking. Four teams created home cinemas, while in a first for The Block, Mitch and Mark turned their basement into a home spa.
With vintage tones and antique touches, Kirsty and Jesse’s classy home cinema took the win, with judges likening it to, “a proper cinema… and it still feels like part of the home”. From the antique projector to the snack bar lights to the Casablanca and Gone With The Wind posters, the winning room exuded golden age cinema class.
